Crafting FAQ

1. How can I craft?
The answer depends on what you wish to craft. Enchantments and Recipes are different.
Enchantment would be something that requires magic as well as the “Craft Magical Arms and Armor” feat.

Enchantment -> applying a bonus property to an item (i.e. AC +2 or Constitution +2). To perform an enchantment, you need to activate the “Recipe: Enchantment” on the item you wish to use it on. If you are missing any component, it will provide you with a message saying what you’re missing.

Recipe -> crafting an item such as a darksteel longsword or a cold iron ingot. To craft a recipe, same as above. You need to activate the “Recipe: Item”. If you are missing a component, it will provide you with a message saying what you’re missing.

2. What do I need for crafting?

Enchantments -> you need to be able to cast a certain magic spell, have the “Craft Magical Arms and Armor” feat and have a recipe for the enchantment as well as the proper ingredients. Additionally, you need a certain amount of gold, and you need to be in the proximity of a Crafting bench.

Recipes -> you need to have a certain number of skills in the Craft Weapon, Craft Armor or Craft Alchemy skills (depending on the item you are attempting to make as well as the correct ingredients) and have a recipe for the item as well as the proper ingredients. Additionally, you need a certain amount of gold, and you need to be in the proximity of a Smithing bench or an Alchemy bench (depending on the item you are making). For certain items, you will also need a mortar & pestle (for alchemy). For weapon recipes for example, you would need the mold and the ingredients (example, 3 cold iron ingots for a larger cold iron weapon).

3. Where can I use crafting?

Currently, crafting benches are located inside the General Store in Shadowdale.

4. What can I make from crafting?

See answer to question #1. You can add enchantments to exiting items using a recipe, magic and ingredients and a feat, and you can create new items using a recipe, ingredients and crafting skills.
