Okay, here's my question:

Bards' inspiration boosts are calculated by level. So at a certain level, your inspire courage gains a point, your inspire competence gains at a different level, etc.

Now, if you have a prestige class that grants advancement to bard spells (but says nothing about bardic music), does it add to the inspiration boost too? I know you won't gain NEW inspirations, obviously, but the old ones might power up, I'm trying to figure out how it works.

As far as I know, if it doesn't say anything about bardic music advancement, it doesn't advance the bard inspiration abilities. It might increase the caster level of your bard inspiration boost (which means your +1 boost spell will last longer), but it won't increase your bard abilities such as song or inspirations.

Each of the classes has VERY specific text that informs you if it advances
a) bard songs/day (almost all)
b) bard songs/inspirations known (rare)
c) bard song/inspiratoin effectiveness (almost all)

Specifically *which* class are you talking about?

Bladesinger (and everyone rolls their eyes at me as I say it). I'm trying to help someone figure out which class they want to advance (bard or sorcerer) with it. I wasn't sure how it worked for inspirations, if effective spellcasting levels would count as levels when figuring inspirations, so I checked some other prestige classes that were more bard specific (lyrical thaumaturge, caina lyricist) and saw that they said they advanced songs per day (without adding new songs), but it didn't say anything about inspiration effectiveness, hence the asking.

Bladesinger is in no way a bardic prc. It simply provides bardic spell progression.

That's what I figured. Just wasn't sure how the inspirations were calculated. Thanks.
