If you are in need of a healer to join you. I am more then willing to join you.
I am no cleric but as a I travel a lot as a performing bard I learned a lot about healing in combat situations. I am also pretty good at lifting the moral of groups of people.

*Two sealed letters to the Coronal and Ffar*

My Coronal and Geeneral FFar

Recently rumours persist that there is a half-dhearow that has eitehr found succor with us or is now improisoned with us. Another rumour persists that this half-dhearow might be on a mission with the defenders?

I ask you when our very people shudder from the recent attacks, when our very people fear the onslaught of dhearow if there is a modecuim of thought to accepting this one then my words defending the actions of our very city has been a lie of which I knew nothing of at the time.

I attempt to rally people against thier nautre, to convince them that we have found our proper mindset and that the days of 'dhearow hugging elves' are over. The days of elf attack elf in defense of dhearow are over, but yet this rumour persists.

I am sure that you have little knowledg eo these events, but they need to be brought to the forefront and for you to have full knowledge. There is somethign that we are doing for our people that represents the utlmost of secrecy and yet we have this half-dhearow lurking about in our midsts.

If this is the Half-Dhearow named Felynac (MSP) then you should be aware that she first tried to find her way to Shadowdale and seek acceptance there. Yes her first choice was to find succor with Bane. She was found out and exposed by myself and I have been tracking her ever sense. Then I discovered her attempted to infiltrate the city a few times as well as camping outside seeming to wait for one of our own to 'speak' to. These things were created by the dhearow by rape and created to infiltrate cities because they fit in better and are easier able to go undetected. Do not be fooled once again by the words of these things. Do not add another to our list of betrayed as we are oon the crux of recallign what it is like to be a family a people again.

When we are at the crux of common sense do not invite this viper to your breast. It would defeat everything we have been working to accomplish, every word saying how the elves are finally finding the meaning of family. There are those that adopt our fight against the dhearow and inviting this viper to us would be the same as slapping them. I am sure the information was unknown to you.

*a letter arrives on fine parchment, bearing the emblem of Sharess, and smelling slightly of ocean air*

To the Coronal of Myth Drannor,

In light of the multitude of accusations and rumors floating about, I have decided to remove myself from the situation entirely. Rest assured, I will be far too remote to have any impact whatsoever, for good or ill, on your endeavors. During my leave, I would ask that my exile is reconsidered. I have found myself in awkward situations, and had a few lapses of judgement over my stay in the Dale lands, but I have always been a friend to the elves of the region. Consider my absence my show of good faith that no harm is meant, and know that what small kernels of truth that led to the much-exaggerated rumors, I have never betrayed any elf of Myth Drannor, nor the city itself, and such never was my intention.

To the Armathors and the Coronal,

Some person has attempted to sell an Elfbane; I happened upon the potent travesty listed at auction in the City of Song itself. I promptly purchased the blade and would like to see to its destruction. In addition I would like its seller divined and investigated. If the Coronal would see fit to lend resources to accomplish either of these matters I would be pleased to assist in any small or large capacity. The blade is currently in my possession, I will turn it over to an Armathor upon request.

Anadra writes a note and sends it to the leaders of the Akh'Velahr.

"Recently while scouting the town of Shadowdale, I noticed a Tel'Quessir whose name is apparently Bok.

He was wearing a red cloak with the insignia of the Zhents. I heard him say that he was a mercenary in the employ of Korinthin Darkblade and the Zhents.

He claimed to have mutilated himself buy cutting his ears so that he would appear to be human so that he would be accepted by the Zhents.

While I was observing the town, he and another mercenary murdered a woman for speaking against Bane. I saw them drag the body back to the center of Shadowdake and report to one of the Zhents.

Sincerely,

My lady,

I am writing this letter because I need guidance on a matter of great concern to me.

I have recently observed that one of the Tel'Quessir is serving as a mercenary in the employ of the Zhents. It is possible that there are others serving them.

I believe that he has killed at least one person for speaking against bane.

I believe that it is very likely that in the near future, we will be forced to make a choice between slaying an elf or allowing him to slay an elf or another good person.

So my question is this: how should I or anyone else handle the situation should it arise? Do we slay the elf or allow him to slay another?

Sincerely,

Anadra Nulentholen

Dear Armathor,

The man you saw me with when you exited the barracks, Thomas Grimm, was escorted out of the city today by Auryne (forgive me, I did not have time to ask for her full name).

His crimes included:

  • Repeated petty thievery, namely stealing my helmet while I was on watch
  • A complete lack of respect for the laws and defenders of Myth Drannor

His thievery is hardly an issue here: it was something I merely gave him a warning to not do again. The real issue; however, is his attitude toward authority itself. I warn you and the other protectors of this city to expect it when dealing with him: he will not be respectful toward you, he will likely insult you, and he will be more evasive than straight-forward when asked for answers.

After speaking to Auryne and I for about an hour, the man claimed he had had enough and wished to leave the city. He was not arrested and was escorted out of the city, as stated above.

Signed,
Raelin Mag'Oydth

(( on an OOC note, this was supposed to be written before Thomas Grimm was banned from the city - which is the way I wrote it as ))

To the Armathor and Sergeant Kivan,

I encountered a dhaerow just outside the lone Inn with the clan Ironhouse of Dwarves. A battle ensued and, apparently, I was struck down by some half-orc with a learned tongue. I was lucky enough to be found by a passing human band, and they proceeded to question us.

However, they wanted to side with the half-orc. Saying we were hostile for no reason, and the justification of being confused for dhaerow (which is absurd in of itself) was reason enough to let the half-orc leave. It seems the Humans care not that we were just recently assaulted by Dhaerow, nor do they care that the half-orc could be betraying them as a slave of the Dhaerow.

There is no safety, it seems, even among those that claim to be our allies. They would rather call me an idiot and walk away than provide any proof to their words. I fear they are either being manipulated, or slaves as well.

*Leaves a description of the humans: Mara Brinsbane, Vincent Blake Aseph. As well as the description of the half-Orc assailant Garok Marthog.*

Raelin Mag'Oydth,

What is Done is Done, Thomas Grim after talking with others is suspect of being a Warlock, He should be treated with extreme caution and is not permitted with in the city.

PostSubject: The Sea is calling   Thu Aug 04, 2011 3:10 pm

My Lady

*inkstain indicating he paused*..It is with regret I write this letter to You, but at the same time a sparkle of light dances in my heart.
As You no doubt are aware..I have lived a long life in this world..I have had times of joy as well as moments of terror and darkness..as all who walk the path of life have.

I have lost a wife, two daughters and myself...and I have regained my soul and walked the path of Solonor for many years. And lately found a new hope of light in this world of hate and war...that hope is Myth Drannor, its people, and you.

A few weeks past I was teaching the younglings an old tale of the days up to the great retreat...and I quoted an old song from my childhood. As I did so...a great urge came upon me..like the pull in his bones..the old bear feels when autum draws near.
It was like a distant cry, a song..a calling.
These where the words I spoke...

~To the Sea, to the Sea! The white gulls are crying,
The Wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying.
West, west away, the round sun is falling.
Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling,
The voices of my people that have gone before me?

~I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me;
For our days are ending and our years failing.
I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing.
Long are the waves on the Last Shore falling,
Sweet are the voices in the Lost Isle calling,
In Eressêa, in Elvenhome that no man can discover,
Where the leaves fall not: land of my people for ever!

*another inkstain*...I...am old..and I have seen much in my life...but the white shores of the Emrald Isle has never layed before my eye in all its splender and glory...and I wish to see it..before I take my place in Avandor.

I have served You, The City, Seldarine and our people to the best of my abilities..but the weight of my many years in the wilds and on the battle field...is starting to become so heavy, that Im beginnig to feel it.

Therefore I ask You to be relieved of my duties in the Defenders and by Your leave, travle west to the shores of the sword coast..and from there..across the blue waves to the Green Isle of Evermeet, because that is where I will want to spend my remaining years..in the very heart of our Peoples most beloved kingdom.
Let an old wood-elf gaze on the wonders of Corellons High-Grove, and become lost in thoughts of light, surounded by his people.

This City is a jewel, but it is flanked at all sides by hate, intolerance, deseet, war and evil plots....I have no doubt Myth Drannor will be able to handle all these things, Your young and talented soldiers give me little cause to doubt...

But this old elf has seen enough battles, as his body is beginnig to tell him....

I will forever remain Your loyal servant and may the Seldarine bless You, Your Husban and the City You rule togehter.

Take not the dismay or the N'Tel"Quesiir to heart my brother. They do not know what we know, nor are their memories as long.

And when you have a chance come talk with me. We've much to discuss.

To the Armathor,

In this eve one of the confirmed Eilistraeens came to Myth Drannor to trade: Eilysia Aelitace. She was visiting Finna and procuring goods when one Tel'Quessir named Iliphar Auvrealyth came up to her and started yelling at her. Swiftly I moved to see the problem, and as well procure my list to see if she was confirmed upon it.

I recalled seeing her, with the Blue Mage present as well as many of the Defenders, upon the raid in the earlier eve. I knew her to be confirmed. I knew her to be welcomed amongst us. When I presented this information to Iliphar however, he remained steadfast in his distrust and accosted her further with claims of her being soulless and what have you.

It seems that Iliphar is not learned of Corellon, despite him claiming otherwise, nor is he accepting of your decree. He would not hear of it, nor would he accompany me to show your decree or lead him to the temple to be informed of Corellon's acceptance of those of Eilistraee.

In this I recommend something so that we will not have problems with Iliphar further accosting those that are welcomed. I recommend that Iliphar is sent to the Elders to be taught, explicitly, his ignorance of this business. If that cannot be done, I would recommend that Iliphar be in servitude to the Temple of the Seldarine for a short while so that he could receive daily lessons of his ignorance.

All I ask is that somehow, one with more authority, teaches him what he should already know. For he would not hear it of me, and that in of itself is a problem.

For the Seldarine, For the Coronal, for Life, Beauty and Freedom.

Anadra sends a note to the Akh'Fearn via the boatman.

Quote :
Today in the area known as Fox Ridge I encountered one of the dhaerow. She gave her name as Sheneth Dorian.

She is not on the list of known Eilistreans and she refused my offer to allow her to go to the Eilistreans and have them identify her.

She began to cast hostile magic and I was forced to kill her.

You should be aware that she seemed to posses some knowledge of the Eilistreans including the name of their priestess.

Dear Gode,
Keeper of the City

I see an issue of urgency in this city, my lady. You are by far the person I respect the most in this city's defense: you are levelheaded, kind, fair and just in your decisions. You have a good head on your shoulders. It would be a mistake to bring this issue to anyone else but you.

Now, here is the issue: our city is making far more enemies than allies. And no, I do not mean the Zhents or the Drow: I speak of the public opinion of our city. Time and time again our city has turned away the aid of those willing to help us, those that have committed no crime – beyond the one of being born.

We say Drow are inherently evil, yet we make friends of the Eilistreans. We say the same of Orc, Yuan-Ti, those with the blood of so-called evil dragons, Half-Drow, even those forced into dark pacts: we allow the Drow a chance to prove themselves, so why do we not extend the same courtesy to these others? If there are exceptions for Drow, considered one of the most evil of races, there must be exceptions for the rest.

This biased attitude toward others is getting us nowhere. Time and time again we have turned away powerful allies, those that have committed no crime mind you, and have subjected them to cruelty. My lady, we have wronged innocents out of fear of what they can do – not what they have done. In truth, we should fear all races. I have seen our hearts: we are all capable of terrible deeds.

Therefore, it is my belief that one should not be seen as evil unless they have committed acts of evil.

Fflar, the Armathor, stated that Myth Drannor was to be a "beacon of hope in these dark times." My lady, for our actions toward others, this is not how our city is seen: we are seen as "extremist tyrants," some say "worse than the very Zhentarium!" Extremist tyrants is a heavy insult, but it holds weight, my lady. This is not something we can ignore.

Even as a recruit, I have seen it: not two minutes after helping defend the city, Thomas Grimm was arrested and threatened with execution. This is how our city treats outsiders, right after they aid us? He had committed no crime, he defended our city from invasion, and first thing we do is treat him as a threat that must be slain. He shed blood for us, my lady. We knew where his intentions were.

Such an action stems from paranoia. We are not tyrants, but we certainly are xenophobic. And the shame is, most outside of the city agree with me. This is the type of mindset that causes others to see us as "extremist tyrants," causing us to lose allies and gain more enemies. If this trend continues, I fear it may lead to the very fall of our city. As I said before, we are making far more enemies than allies because of this.

I wish to talk to you more on this matter in person, Gode. Some of the things Defenders have commanded me to do break my very religion. So please, find the time to talk with me.

Signed,
Raelin Mag'Oydth

Hello Raelin,

As I did promise you I had a deep and long discussions about this very matter.
I studied the matter myself too and we all came to some conclusions.

First, all the high mages of the city refuse to believe such a pact can be given on birth and the insist that he had to do it himself at some point of his life.
I sat for some time in our libraries and have to agree with them (according to server rules dark pacts has to be made and not be born to).

The path he walks is very dangerous but I understand your actions, though you have to understand that no matter what caused this situation, it's wrong.
I know for a fact such pacts can be broken if one really wish it. I'll advise you, to either convince him to break his pact and to try and do it as fast as possible, or to not to call one like that a friend.

As a Paladin Raelin? How would you threat a sorcerer that is natural bound with the weave allows him to summon undead to his side freely? I understand again where your actions are coming from, but you have to understand that there are some black and white matters and sometimes using a sword that is cursed in a war is worse than not fighting at all.

Second and I must add, all those who think we are tyrants are actually cowards themselfs.
We act mostly defensively and after giving individuals chances.
I can give you so many examples of Tiefling are allowed to walk the camp until they prove themselves or even a Yuan-ti hunter that used to walk around us freely because she proved where her heart truly is.
I don't think we are xenophobic at all as we let people prove themselfs..screw up and only then cannot walk into the camp.

As for orcs, you will have to study and understand our pass with them.

For the other issue please contact me alone as this place is not appropriate or made for such conversations.

Quote :
Dear Armathor Fflar,

I have a few concerns that I believe should be brought to your attention: to begin, there is no written law concerning hoods and masks. Because of this, there has been differing judgments on this issue:

  • That one should take off anything covering their face and keep it off
  • That one should take off whatever is covering their face but is allowed to put it back on after a Defender sees the persons face
  • Or since there is no law in the first place, that it would be illegal to force a citizen or visitor to even remove their mask or hood.

Secondly, there is no written law concerning weapons in these lands. For obvious safety reasons, citizens should keep swords, bows, even staves tucked away – with sticks used to support ones walk being the only exception. This; however, is only my personal belief, and until there is a ruling on this matter it will continue to be disputed by those on duty.

Thirdly, it is my question as to whether these issues are to apply to defenders as well. For example, defenders without their cloaks on have been seen wondering about with their weapons unsheathed. I believe, when not wearing their cloaks, they should be making examples for the other citizens – but as there is no law on weapons in the first place, there is no example to be made.

An official ruling on all these matters would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, it is my personal belief that a sign, one with all of this region's laws clearly written for all to see, would greatly benefit the city. Without it, visitors and even citizens are ignorant of the law, and ignorance of the law is not something that should be encouraged. Also, with the law written for all to see, one could see that the defenders are merely enforcing the region's laws with their power – not abusing it.

If making said sign will be an issue, I am willing to do it myself. I know a little of stonework, but I am willing to expend the resources if this city is not. I simply need your permission, Armathor. I understand that this city has more important matters to expend its funds on, such as the city's defense.

Thank you for your time on these matters, Armathor. I hope I have not wasted it.

Signed,
Raelin Mag'Oydth

Another letter also makes its way to Gode, with the previous letter and the following one bundled together.

Quote :

the ruling on hoods was simple no masks at all the hood is allowed but they must remove the hood when asked so defenders may see them after they are seen by defender the hood is allowed to be put back on..

i expect all defenders to abide by this and support each other if you feel they are wrong you still support them and pull them to the side and talk to them after.. this should be common curtiousy between defenders..

if we can not respect each other how are we to expect them to respect us.. use your brains my elven kin..
