Alarm! Alarm! A thick plume of smoke rises in the horizon to the north of Myth Drannor. Scouts are already reporting that the fire started sometime past midday, and has grown terribly fast to encompass a large swath of land in very little time.

Druids are already being dispatched, along rangers and two companies to fight the fire and prevent it from spreading further south in order to ensure the safety of the city itself.

An secret and urgent dispatch is sent looking for the Coronal and Lord Nadin, with news for their eyes only...

Iwean will organize the Rangers. Making sure all the Druids have a security detail. Giving instructions that they are to protect the Druids. Don't get distracted! Making sure means to SEE Invisible and protection from Magic is available. He will also assign retreat areas where everyone can meet should things go bad.

a beautiful woman who appears human but with striking features sees the smoke in the forest and her eyes immediately begin to tear. She runs towards the fires, And as soon as possible would summon a powerful water elemental to stop them.

if she comes upon any other beings that appear responsible , she would be prepared to strike with deadly force.

The first responders have to face a blazing inferno of unprecedented proportions. The druids with their security following in tow start dividing tasks in order to more effectively organize. Retreat areas are secured and manned a fair distance from the spreading fire.

They set up a perimeter, identifying the fire front with the aid of the rangers and scouts, determining the direction of the wind. Animal familiars and magical reconnaissance helps measure the extent of the blaze... things are dire, as the fire has spread up towards the canopy.  Some get to fighting the flames directly, others get to shaping the land ahead of the spreading fire with their magic in order to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. The focus is on fighting the fire defensively, seeking to contain it's spread. Some more dedicate their efforts to rescuing and treating injured animals, and making sure everyone involved in the area is being accounted for and supplies are distributed as needed.

The efforts of fighting the fire directly with the aid of water elementals proves effective, but limited due to the scope of the fire itself. It is unknown how extensive the damage is at the moment, nor the cause of the fire can be looked into yet.

No hostile threat presents itself beside the fire, so the Druids, rangers and others involved can be fully focused in the task at hand.

Iwean continue his efforts all the while watching for an external threat. Trying to determine the source or at least the location of the start of the fire. "This is exactly how the Drow will distract."

After several days of effort, the fire is finally extinguished. The efforts made by everyone to prevent the fire extending to the south towards Myth Drannor itself were successful, though the natural wind conditions made the fire continue several miles eastward before pettering out and being extinguished by the various fire fighting brigades.

A large swath of forest has been consumed by the flames, and at last the extent of the damage is properly gauged. Druids and rangers measure the damaged area as roughly forty square miles though irregularly distributed. Though no casualties are reported by those fighting the fire, an unknown number of woodland creatures and trees perished in the conflagration. Several firefighters report damage to eyes, and respiratory tracts, mostly from the smoke. Some say that the loss of woodland will take many decades to reverse, even with proper care from druidic circles.

A call is made for those that are willing and able to press further to investigate the approximate starting area of the forest fire, an armed detachment being organized by a scouting company of the Akh'Velhar.

Iwean will join the force, looking for familiar faces among the Akh'Velhar.

The company advances through the charred land at a normal pace, an ashen veil settling over the burn land. The husks of charred trees that still stand contrast with completely cleared out swaths of land, all enveloped in a soft, smoky mist. You encounter no woodland creature as you trudge through the devastated forest.

It is many miles and roughly half a day after that you arrive at your destination: After going up a small hill, you come across a large portal over what used to be a creek. At the site stand several fire elementals, apparently guarding the portal. They seem unaware of your arrival, standing in what appears to be a fixed formation around the shimmering, orange tear in space. There are a few stacks of what appeared to be broken and charred crates in the vicinity.

Iwean will set up a perimeter around the portal and the Druid camp. Waiting for what the Druids plan. Secretly inside he is steaming and barely able to maintain control. His hatred for the Drow is building deeper and deeper. At times you can see him staring into the portal with a far off gaze. And at times when he is interrupted him will shout out "Chickens!" And go about his business as if nothing happened.

A perimeter is set up around the portal. The elementals take note of your presence but make no move to neither attack nor flee. They simply stand there as if waiting for something...

Staring at the portal is like staring at the dancing flames of a fire pit. It is mesmerizing as dancing flames, though it is not easy on the eyes if stared for long. The commanding officer (a veteran of the Akh'Velhar Iwean is pretty sure he has seen before but hasn't interacted with much in the past) calls for a fighting force to be assembled, as he has decided that the best course of action is to drive back or destroy the elementals, and seize the portal and it's surroundings. The total company is thirty in size, but about half are non combatants, serving various supporting roles. Of the total fighters, three are Akh'Velhar veterans skilled in close combat with blade and shield, ten are scouts and rangers, one is a warpriest of Corellon and one is a mage. Attached to them are also four druids.

Just as the strategy is being finalized to better handle the elementals, a druid reports that through the eyes of his hawk familiar he has spotted over a mile to the north a group approaching the portal area. They seem to be carrying back a green metal coffer with the aid of two trolls... they are escorted by at least ten cloaked and apparently well armed guards. They are being led by what appears to be a short and stocky robed figure, and should be arriving in about a half hour or so as they advance at a leisurely pace.

Iwean will accompany the druids and ask for any volunteers from the Grove Rangers. "I recommend we make quick work of the sentinels before the group arrives." Brings his frost arrows to front for easy access. Tells Roan, "You better stay out of trouble."

Iwean is joined by the rangers and half the scouts. The other scouts are dispatched to keep tabs on the approaching party. The Akh'Velahr commander decides a swift frontal assault will be the best course of action, supported by the bow wielding rangers while the druids keep everyone protected.

The druids cast several protective spells on the front line fighters and onto the rangers they confer animalistic strength and swiftness. The chief druid makes hail come crashing from the skies onto the elementals as the fighters charge in, the rangers given freedom to pick their targets as they please.

The elementals take damage from the opening salvo, two small ones being snuffed out. Three medium sized ones and two large ones remain, and seem to brace themselves as the fighters approach them to engage in melee.

The melee is decidedly intense, the larger elementals prove quite the troublesome opponents as the very air around them is intensely heated by their presence. The druidic protection against fire proves a boon in this battle, as it allows the elven fighters to resist the blows of the elementals for much longer.

The archers make quick work of the lesser elementals, mostly because of Iwean's frost arrows. This allows their focus to shift to assisting their brethren against the larger elementals. As the conflict draws on, the elemental's fiery blaze diminishes. As one elemental wavers under the onslaught, the other disengages and falls back towards the portal. Althouhh the archers manage to pepper it with a few more arrows, the elemental successfully reaches the portal and vanishes within the fiery swirl.

The injured are tended to. No serious wounds other than a few burns, no losses. The company's commander orders the burnt crates inspected. They contain several empty vials of what appears to be fire resistant glass. Some crates are taken in as evidence. A decission now must be made: To engage the approaching party, or retreat with the current evidence in their possession. The company's commander seems to desire suggestions and ideas of everyone present as to the best approach now.

With the portal Guardians dispatch the urge to charge the into the portal to slay Drow intensifies. The only thing keeping him is the other group approaching and his duty to the Druids. If time permits after seeing to the defenses Iwean will gather as many as available and set up an ambush.
