Ian Miller makes his way through town offering his aid to any locals that need assistance.  He provides them with any labor they ask of him, be it helping farm or heavy lifting.  He works himself to exhaustion as he makes his rounds.

Many of the locals seem to need assistance when it comes to clearing out the flood waters that have overwhelmed their crops. They seem to be doing anything from using buckets to toss out larger standing puddles of water, to using shovels in an attempt to at least spread the water out more.

As Ian helps them with this task, one of the farmer's wives makes a point to grab a bowl of stew that was made by a helpful adventurer and bring it to him. She also gives him a waterskin of cold water, urging him to drink so he keeps up his strength.

He takes the stew and water with a warm smile and a grateful, "Thank you."

When he is finished he leaves the bowl, after rinsing it out, at their door and moves on to his next task.  Yet inside the bowl he leaves a small bag of coins in appreciation for the kindness shown to him.

The woman goes to retrieve the bowl and comes upon the small bag of coins with tears in her eyes. Even small gestures such as these seem to mean everything to the broken people of Shadowdale. She raises her eyes to the sky, whispering thanks to the Gods, then steps back inside the house to take care of her children.

Ian would go out once more, this time he would help with any efforts to rebuild.  He concentrates on helping local farmers and townsfolk rebuild their broken farms and homes.  Being one man the work he is able to do is limited, but his efforts are given none the less.

Jack could occasionally be found amidst fields. She's secret about her efforts, telling no one though she might sometimes be spotted. When confronted, she'd basically flee, but anyone trying to discover what she was doing in the fields might realize she was tilling the soil.

The Calishite warrior rogue wizard halfling is attempting to clear the fields of salt and damage, using means of mundane, alchemical, and even magical origin.

Lately Lady Corvain can often be seen gathering the younger kids  of the village, distributing baskets to them and leading them out towards the trees edge.

The one thing the rain seems to aid is the growth of mushrooms everywhere and the grey old lady turns this into a virtue by both giving the young something to do away from the desolate city, and at the same time gathering at least some food for each of their families.

She tends to tell stories while she walks with the children, teaching them about the differences in mushrooms, which ones are edible and which ones useful in other ways, as well as now and them showing them small magic tricks to get them used to it.
Never taking more than 5 children along she seems to avoid places that have any signs of undead.
When and if an undead creature actually crosses their paths she would use that very magic to turn it into ash, then telling them stories of the mighty witch queens of the north who protect the lands and children unseen.

Well before dusk each child usually returns with a basket full of mushrooms - they grey woman delivering them to their families or those who have taken up their place.

One man indeed, the limit is there as to what he can accomplish. However, as he works beside the other adventurers helping with rebuilding as well as the farmers themselves, slowly progress can be seen.

In her efforts, the halfling would be able to discover that the salt it not just on the surface of the soil of the fields, but it is sifted entirely throughout. Perhaps this is why it has been so difficult to fix. The tilling that she does do has a very limited effect, even with the rain that has flooded the fields.

The children seem rather excited at the prospect of going hunting, even if for simple mushrooms. To them, it's their own sort of adventure. The parents seem a bit worried as they see their children go with this woman, and a few even outright protest the children following her. Trust seems difficult to come by, especially with all that's happened within the town.

Those of the children that do go seem to enjoy the stories she tells. One of them seems to grow rather close to Gwenneth, referring to her as "Granny Gwen".

When returning with the mushrooms to their homes, the families looks relieved to see their children okay and thank Gwenneth for her attention to the children and aid with food.

Due to the efforts of Jack, Ian begins an incredible project.  He starts by hiring a horse drawn cart.  He then loads the cart with fresh dirt from nearby, somewhere downriver where the soil is nice and rich.  The process is slow going but sure enough he makes a load of it and travels to one of the local farms to drop off the load.  He then begins the process of digging the salted soil up.  He makes a separate pile for the salted earth.  He is not able to make much progress on his first day, but he continues anyway with determination.

((Please refrain from RPing the NPCs. This is for DMs to do.))

The local farmers actually do not laugh at him. The specific farms that were salted are of the abandoned houses along the Northern Vale, past the bridge over the Ashaba. A gate separates these two areas. The farmers are not actually present at the old lands that have since been abandoned for at least a year.

The people that do watch, however, are a few Amnians that are on patrol from their encampment. They don't say anything to the working man, but they do leave with a bit of purpose in their step back to their encampment.

((For reference, as I believe it's been confused quite often where exactly these saltings happened, here is a map. Red X's designate the farms effected. The black wall and gate designates where the cut-off of what was abandoned by the people. Anything north of that wall is not inhabited at this moment in time.

After nightfall Lady Corvain walks towards the hospital-tents and delivers two boxes of bandages - all of them sporting a stitched "G" in the fabric - to the supplies.

She mentions that they are a donation by a young woman of the village Reed.

She then walks towards the refugee-grounds, the militia-training grounds and the Inn, looking for volunteers to accompany the young lady back to her village with some gold to trade food for Shadowdale.

Most people seem to be extremely busy with their own work on rebuilding what's been lost. Otherwise, it seems that a particular dwarf and hin were willing to be a part of the escort. However, when the two went to begin the task, they found something most peculiar within the Inn of the Old Skull...

Hearing the aftermath of the mission from the dwarf and meeting with Arran and Kassia, Lady Corvain can be seen leading the two to the supplies-tent, searching and removing the marked bandages from the stock and checking where any of them might have been used with the caretakers around.

Kasia would follow suit, searching for the marked bandages along with the two others.
She seems to pay little concern for safety measures like gloves or masks.

When it becomes clear that some of the marked bandages have been removed from their crates, she'd pray for a ward of undead detection, before continuing the search.

All but about 4 sets of bandages would be found. Those that had been used would take some time to track down, but after a full day of searching, the group manages to find those whom the bandages were used on.

None of them seem to be injured nor ill. The bandages appear to have been actual bandages.

The hunter known as Hun-Balam was absent for almost a month, and returned to a different Shadowdale than the one he had left behind.

He had wandered to the northern lands and had stalked the edges of the Daggerhills, culling some undead and apparently away in some divinely mandated Hunt which details he will not disclose... but now that he is back, he resumes his previously held task of providing fresh and abundant bush-meat for the survivors of Shadowdale with a fervor and dedication proper of a veteran hunter. Once more, nightly in a makeshift encampment set up by the river in Shadowdale West, he provides free meat and foraged foodstuff for those that seek it, in the manner of the Hunt of Stags celebrated only during the harshest winters.

He then proceeds to seek those that are currently in charge of defenses in Shadowdale, in an effort to find news of old acquaintances' whereabouts and to offer what services he can as a hunter and tracker.
