PostSubject: Ironhouse Library   Mon Jun 01, 2015 1:53 pm

Silphie drew a deep breath; the pungent aroma of aged paper lingered in the library mingling the scent of lit candles. Magical lights dotted the ceiling - illuminating the vast space that was decorated with luxurious red carpets and tapestries. The shelves that lined the hall were towering, reaching for the stone ceiling as if they could grasp the stars, every bit of shelf space occupied by heavy leather bound tomes. The lofty mantle above the vaults near where the librarian sat decorated with the visages of the deities of knowledge and magic.

The small elf sat at a large oaken desk, the otherwise silent halls echoed with the soft sound of a scratching pen as she delicately copied a tattered tome on to fresh vellum parchment. A large brown and white malamute slept at her feet on top of a plush pillow, listening for the sound of pesky cat paws on the carpets.

Soft steps, likely unheard by the elf or dog at her feet, pace up until she stands just behind Silphie.  Mineva lurks a moment, as is her usual tendency before saying anything.  Once she sees the elf has paused in her writing a moment the half-elf chimes in.

Silphie, I have a favor t'ask'a ya. The Thane is in need'a the golem notes we have from Lord Blue as is Ragnar.  When able, please make a copy'a the notes and deliver them t'the Thane.  Please also make a spare copy'a notes but don't put those inta the library.  Only hold on t'the spare copy f'now.

Silphie jumped slightly as the voice appeared in the otherwise silent library - looking over her shoulder quickly and sighed in relief as she saw Mineva. The dog at her feet lifted his head, his tail thumping against the floor briefly before the big hound got up to bug Mineva for attention.

"Don't scare me like that!" She said with a hand pressed to her chest. " -  alright.. I'll get them copied today but next time walk up in front of me please.."

Gently she put the tome she was working on to the side and set out a few fresh pieces of vellum to write on. Opening her drawer she shuffled through the papers inside for the notes Blue had given her some time ago, placing them on her desk top she started to copy out the notes with a fine calligraphic hand.

When she was finished and both pages were dry she would tuck away the original and one copy - sending the remaining copy to Valtore.

Mineva gave a wicked grin at Silphie's reaction but nodded to her words.

Alright, no more unintentional scares.  I'll intend t'scare next time.

The dark-skinned woman quipped then gave the dog a gentle but dismissive shove of the snout, having no patience for such a foul beast.  She peered down at the mongrel then back to the elf.

If y'have any maps'a the water way around the Dales and Cormanthor I'd appreciate if those could be made ready f'me t'review later. Thank ya f'the help in this matter.

Her hand on Silphie was much kinder, gentle patting her twice on the back before moving for the exit.  No promise was given as to what direction Mineva would approach from next time.

Valtore walks quietly into the library and heads to the various maps looking for some certain minerals.

Silphie would nod and sigh, rubbing her face for a moment before standing and walking over to the big shelves - searching through the tomes for a moment until she found a decent maps book on the dales in specific. Dropping the map book on the edge of her desk she'd move back to her seat and pull the tome she was copying back into her work space.

Stevie would sit back beside Silphie's chair - letting out a small "bouf" as he looked down the halls, his ears perked and alert at the sound of footsteps.

Arran wearing his dark grey outfit, Stumbled into the library, Arms full of books and scrolls, so precariously balanced that even a single misstep would send them tumbling to the floor. As he looked for a table to set them on he noticed....no one, because the books were rather obscuring to his vision.

Arran would hear steps approaching, a fluffy tail moving through the library not unlike the shark fin from jaws - padding up right close to the blinded mage. The greeting he'd receive came in the form of a loud happy "BARK!" that would alert the other occupants of the library.

The loud bark completely threw off the concentration and balance of the Mage. as the books began to tilt and scrolls began to fall, he rushed to keep them steady but failed, and as the papers hit the floor so soon did he, slipping on the floor and perhaps his own cloak, the metal of his shoulder guards making a Clang! as they touched the floor.

First in shock, Arran craned his head up to see the dog...and he laughed. "You are a monster you know that right?" he asked the dog, smiling and laughing, but he laid on the hard floor a second longer because the fall had not been rather pleasant.

Stevie pressed his ears back and wiggled happily towards the downed mage; stepping over the books and scrolls to come up close and lap at Arrans face, his tail wagging.

More footsteps would be heard from down the hall as Silphie rushed to see what all the noise was. Looking down into the study area at the great big mess of books and scrolls - along with her happy dog lapping at Arrans face.

"Arran are you oka- Stevie!" She called the dog back, rushing down to retrieve her happy dog.
"Are you alright?"

He laughed even harder as the dog licked his face, reaching up rubbing it's ears and head. "Ohh I can't be mad at a big happy fluff ball like you." he sat up when the dog ran off to silphie, "ughhh, well It looks like I made a bit of a mess, I apologize." Arran began cleaning and picking up the scattered pages.

Valtore has his head buried in maps and notes trying to find any clues about mineral veins in the greater dales.

Silphie smiled, helping to pick up the scrolls and books now that her dog was no longer mauling her poor guest. Setting what she picked up on the table. "Don't worry about the mess - so long as you're alright. oh... and Welcome to the Library."

The fluffy malamute ploped his butt down next to where Silphie stood near the study table, his tail wagging back and forth along the floor.

He chuckled as he picked up his papers, putting them on the same table as Silphie. "I appreciate the help, and the warm welcome." he sat down and went back to organizing, the vast majority of the material had to do with Lantanese craft, and various golem manuals.

Silphie smiled warmly, her big dog wagging his tail cheerfully as he sniffed at Arran.

"You're here to work on the golems?... I'm afraid I won't be much help to you but you're welcome to all the library's resources. I hope you don't mind Stevie - he's friendly to people but not so much to other animals - be careful if you bring your familiar around."

She'd give Arran a friendly pat on the shoulder. "well I'll leave you to it - let me know if you need anything, okay?"

He returned the Warm smile to her and her dog.

"It's quite alright, I appreciate the help, and if I need anything I will let you know. I hope to see a functioning Model in a fortnight, I have found a few specialists in the field along with myself. We hope to go scavenge parts from a local logging camp to the south near the Temple" he paused holding his chin and thinking. "If we can get enough back then forges could be set up to make emplacement parts." He mused out loud, going back to his books and thumbing through. Speaking to himself mostly, but anyone who could hear it as well.

Some time later, a silent dark figure stalks by the desk Silphie was working at.  Upon not seeing the moon elf, Mineva scans around before picking up the stack of books that wasn't on the desk before and looks through them to confirm they were the ones she requested.  Hearing voices she quietly shuffles through the library until she finds the source of the noise.  Seeing Arran brings a frown to her face and a huff of disappointment.  As wordlessly as she came into the library, she exits it.

Arran thumbed through Manuscript looking for knowledge on Golem craft, using his own Thayan books, Borrowed Lantanese books, and The Ironhouse Libraries own books to supplement his notes on the matter.
