Two local farmers are speaking up in the local farmers community. They tell tales of being harassed and threatened by militia soldiers, and even of being violated by a foreign gods divine magic in broad daylight, right in front of several militia members. This without any of them taking action against the perpetrator. They tell the other farmers of how the local militia is lead by foreigners and not their own kin, and how the dales just changed one master for another. How someone should speak up for the farmers and their rights. That this is their land and it is time for change.

Does anyone listen?

*A man in his best age, gray in the hair and with sun-tanned leathery, wrinkled skin*

Hear, hear! *he shakes a fist*

Sister Laura wasn't paying much attention. She was walking down the road mechanically, one foot in front of the other until she ran out of cobble. Her thoughts were elsewhere, her head floating up into the sky. She only came back down after she accidentally ran into the beggar.

"Oh. I'm sorry!" She stopped short and apologized profusely. Her hands held out to make certain she didn't push him over.

Once she makes certain the man is steady on his feet she looks over to the rambling farmer.

A few of the farmers of the town seem to listen and nod in agreement with the other's words. They seem frustrated at how things go, and judging by how a few more gather, it's likely they seem to listen to the words closely.

Out by the militia training fields some troops gather.  Those that take an interest and wonder closer would see Wester standing before them, one of few remaining higher ranks.  He speaks to them.

"The mission of each true militiaman is duty... no" He corrects himself.

"It's Privilege."

"We are expected to fight the unbeatable foe and bear with most unbearable sorrow." He pauses remembering. Reliving the screams of those children then he continues.

"...We aim to better ourselves far more than who we are. To keep going when our arms are too weak and weary."

"This is our mission."

"No matter how hopeless the cause, no matter how far we must go. We must be willing to give when there's no more to give. To be willing to die so that honor and justice may live. That even when only one of us stands alone, scorned and covered with scars, that we were known to strive with every last ounce of courage in us."

"Know that if you are true to this glorious quest, that your heart will lie peaceful and calm when you lay to your final rest."

"With our once allies now abandoning us to this blight there is a great feeling that we are doomed. Where another people would surrender to despair, we will fight back with greater strength. We will make them fight for every inch of Shadowdale. "

"Weep, pray, say goodbye to your loved ones, and then throw yourselves without fear or hesitation at the very face of death itself."

"Never, Never, Never surrender."

"History will show that no one who ever see's us fighting against this inevitable end will be able to help but be moved to tears by our courage. Our stubborn nobility! When we run out of siege shot, we will use arrow and spell, when these run out we will use blade and stick and even our own bare hands."

"We will be magnificent."

"I only hope that when it is my time, I may die with such dignity with my battle brothers and sisters. Let us never run out of courage for now we have run out of time."
