PostSubject: Aureco enters the Halls of Echoes in Myth Drannor   Thu Oct 30, 2014 12:39 am

The towering Ar'Tel'Quessir enters the library in Myth Drannor and internalizes himself in the long shelves of the library, searching every section he may have access to.
He searches about anything he might find on a creature called Bizultul and there different ways there may be to bar a specific outsider from entering a plane if there was such a thing.

Aureco would return later on to the Halls of Echoes to search it through with hopes to refresh information about a certain group of necromancers known as 'The Coven' that are seemingly at war with Shadowdale.

Looking though the Hall of Echos, you mind meany mentions to covens, about how a coven is a collection of female casters that often form for a single goal or reason, be it protection or a driving task, this new Coven though, there seems to be no mention of them hinting to the fact that they are an entirely new Coven that has appeared.

Aureco is found once again in the Halls of Echoes of Myth Drannor, and now revisits what Lore he may find about the Dragons of the Realm. He specifies and pinpoints his research on the Chromatic, Green types. Once he has pulled all the material he's found on the subject; he focuses his research upon the Green Dragons that may immediately be found in the Dalelands, and in the neighboring regions.

The doors of the Halls of Echoes open once anew to allow entry to one whose footsteps were all very familiar to the old wooden and marble floors of the reformed Library. There was he, the towering sun elven nobleman; Aureco had once anew dived into the many shelves of the place; including the all secret and restrictive areas to dig up lore concerning the arts of Chronomancy and anything having to do and/or related to the name Zsalat(spelling?).

There the Wizard internalized himself for long hours that turned into days; to turn and study every book and document he could find on these subjects.

Aureco scours tome after tome, scroll after scroll, finding precious little regarding Chronomagic... apparently this is a rather secretive and unusual school of magic. His meticulous approach reveals the following:

The deity of Time in the Realms is Mystra. It is a rather unknown piece of her portfolio, because she really dislikes time travel. Chronomancers are shunned in the Realms, and quickly invited to leave for other Prime Material crystal spheres... sometimes forcibly.

Most accounts of Chronomagic relate to the ancient empire of Netheril, and seem mostly anecdotal, and most accounts tend to end badly, perhaps as a warning for others trying to meddle with time itself... Strikingly, Aureco finds out that there are fixed "time gates" on Faerûn, but their locations remain a mystery. Ancient texts of Mystryl's faith talk of three gates that were created either through accidents or great fortune... and in one of the more ancient scrolls in the Halls of Echoes Past, there is evidence that hidden from other races, one fourth time gate, was known only to the High Mages of the elves. The time gates are older constructs than anything else in the Realms as they predate the first dwarven realm on Faerûn, and even the elves seem in awe of their age and power.

Aureco is at some point joined by one of the Ahk'Faern serving the Coronal's Council, with a direct request... it appears the Council requires a report not only of his findings of Chronomagic, but also on what is known of "Voidstones". The Ahk'Faern is to assist him in any regard to these research subjects, and thus stands at his command.

The councilor elven nobleman nods as he is visited by an Akh'Faern and once informed of the Coronal's request; he nods and then divides the task between the two about studying the library for these voidstones. He sends the fellow mage to scour the public part of the library while Aureco takes care of studying what he can find on the subject in the restrictive areas.

Aureco spends many days researching this subject. It proves to be a challenge, as it is a mater most arcane and obscure... it points to dark rituals and evil magic as ancient as the old empires of Illefarn and Netheril.

The topic is highly taboo because of the dark place where Voidstones originate. Aureco and his research assistant find the following after a solid tenday with little sleep, quick meals and short reveries, scouring the more arcane and older archives:

Voidstones in the Prime Material are highly unusual and rare, most recounts of them come from ancient explorers of the Outer Planes of Existence that write that there exists a solid substance that originated on the Negative Energy Plane and destroyed anything it touched. Completely black and featureless, voidstone was nearly unmeasurable by any known means. Rough estimates of size could be made by the black hole it formed in any region of illumination. Size could range from a few inches/centimeters to dozens of feet/many meters in any dimension. Any material touching it, other than another voidstone, was quickly destroyed in a matter of seconds—a being with great fortitude might have lasted a little longer.

Delving in the restricted areas of the Hall, Aureco eventually also finds the following among ancient manuscripts of some long forgotten, partially destroyed, anonymous journal: Telekinesis or other forms of mental control did not work on voidstones, but perhaps divine or other magical powers could theoretically be used to manipulate them. Most alarmingly, some voidstones appeared to be highly attracted by the presence of life, and would move on their own in the direction of a living creature... otherwise, most voidstones would remain completely immovable. Curiously enough, voidstones showed no reaction to undead, but undead would also be destroyed if coming into contact with them.

There is speculation that voidstone was the basis for the creation of spheres of annihilation because of the similar destructive nature and utterly black appearance, but proof of an actual connection remains elusive. Finally, the author of the anonymous journal speculates that a piece of uncontrolled voidstone on a plane with gravity and an atmosphere would be extremely dangerous, possibly apocalyptic... so some sort of control or device was needed in order to ensure the things would be safe to manipulate. If this was possible or not was a matter of pure conjecture...

Reuniting with the Akh'Faern, Aureco shares and discusses what has been found before he begins writing several letters...
