A morning sermon was held at the Old Lathander Land where the chruch once stood. Many locals came to hear Dawnmaster Cleo speak. ((IG EVENT))

Oswidge would generally nod and grin, and go about talking about random things. For a half-orc, he seems quite intelligent and cultured. Though even then, most people are leery of him. He is also surprisingly cheery for how gruff he looks.

Bryanna came and after speaking quietly with Lhanir shared the good news that the druidess and her people would be assisting in the coming planting and growing of the first crop. Beyond that she simply asked if anyone had any questions or concerns before stepping aside to let others speak when no one raised any to her.

Kendra speaks up at one point and does what she can to try to make the people feel better and lift their spirits. Otherwise, she stand with the crowd amongst them, speaking with them when they ask questions.

Imesah doesn't speak in front of the crowd, but does try to lift the spirits of some of the farmers by talking about the upcoming planting and how preparations are coming for that.

Emrys approached the gathering with a curious glimmer in his eyes. Seeing as the speakers were already well into their orations, he kept to the back of the crowd. Muttering a few quick words with Cleophus after the priest's speech, he otherwise kept silent and listened to the remaining speakers while his eyes occasionally surveyed the reactions of the crowd.

As dawnlight drifted over Shadowdale, the little Dawnlord stood exchanging small talk with the locals. When the sun reached the spot where they stood, where the temple to Lathander once stood, Cleo cleared his throat and made his speech.

Sermon at Dawn (breaks page):

It was brief, as these things go, and straightforward, an exhortation to hope based not on faith alone, but on certain knowledge. It was written, not so much to lift the mood, as to replace fear with reason.

Sermon text:

When his sermon was over, Cleo circulated among the crowd, speaking to the humble and the renowned alike, giving no regard to station, happy to see so many colleagues, patients, and friends turn out.

Cleo met a man named Donovan, a Lathanderite holy warrior who would soon join the Order of the Aster.

He was approached by a woman who had been crying, a Chauntean layperson. She asked to go to the Dawnspire and handed removed her symbol of Chauntea, handing it to Cleo.

"I don't want this anymore," she said, as she walked away.

As the gathering became an impromptu town meeting, he observed what folks had to say about the town and its future and gave opinions of his own, finally urging Sister Laura to say a few words.

Once it was done, Cleo thanked everyone, told Jay where he'd be, and headed home to plant his garden during a break in the rain.

Then, figuring Suzi and the Chauntean were about ready to depart, he [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

With great disappointment, Laura missed Cleo's sermon. It was something she was looking forward to. She hadn't heard Cleo preach before, yet she had preoccupied herself and lost track of time. She didn't get to hear sermons much anymore. Mass was a little different for the Chaunteans, and though she thoroughly enjoyed going to their masses, she missed something more familiar.

After a brief conversation with Jay, she saw a few faces in the crowd she recognized and slipped into the group to chat with the Baker, and comforted a nearby priestess. Cleo then caught her eye, and convinced her to speak to the crowd.

She wasn't much of a public speaker, but she said what she thought the people needed to hear. Then, once she fell to silence, the crowd began to disperse and Laura was left to her own business.

But what was her business? She was currently working with the make-shift hospital Brother Jonah had collaborated, but the town returning back to a bustling haven after such emptiness was surreal. She had made peace with the ghost town, thinking it would become her grave. Now she had been spared and she didn't know what to do with herself. She meandered a bit, talking to the stray individual until her feet lead her back to the hospital. She entered and tended to her rounds, confident that someone would come to her soon with something they needed. The best part about this town was there were so many distractions to keep her from thinking about her discomfort for too long.
