(I tried to post this in the RP tips section, but I didn't have authorization to post there, so here it is.)

Some people might already be aware of this list, but here's a compilation of elven phrases gleaned from Forgotten Realms canon that I contributed to some years back. A few other players and I used it extensively on another server to communicate a few years ago (wicked geeky, I know), but with the advent of cipher-based language tools, I find this list mostly useful for naming characters, familiars and animal companions, items, places, et cetera.

I was a bit curious myself on this, so I did take a peak. Reason being that drow per the book, "Drow of the Underdark" speak a mixture of Undercommon and a dialect of elven and really any other language they feel is good to throw in for their elitist communication skills. Since they don't have their own tongue or language of drow. It is also important to note that all ceremonies of Lolth are held and spoken in pure elven.

For example: I hate you, couled be translated into "Usstan hate Dos"

I was curious though, what is the common elven word for I or you? I am assume that Usstan and Dos are part of the elven dialect.

Ust = I
Dos = You

Various versions of Ust can be found, and I have never bothered to figure out what went where.

Personally, all Elvish should be based off of this, which was created by none other than J. R. R. Tolkien. Without him, there would be no elves as we know them today, surface or underdark.

Ust = First

I see many people using Ust for I and that is cool I do realize what they are saying, but technically it is another word.

I think drow would win the superbowl.

Only because they'd cheat and poison/murder/enslave the other teams the night before their matches.

Doesn't make for very good viewing... Oh wait, yeah Superbowl... No change there then.

The elves would make better commercials, though. A whole race of skinny, really good looking people is every ad exec's dream.

Extra skinny cos the Drow don't feed their slaves well.

Drow get a bonus to Charisma, surface elves do not.
