Ah well, I was disappointed with that Alpha leak as well... (I'm actually hoping that's not an alpha leak.) Didn't see anything other than "Oblivion" in a different enviroment, with a slightly different default UI and Load screen.

All the combat that was done in the video is identical to Oblivion in every way. - The logs rolling down on the humans, the same.

Time will tell. -- The mod community has already made Oblivion pretty damn nice in the combat department. (Mod: Deadly Reflexes. - Decapitations, Coup De Graces on knocked down things, etc. )

Eh. Seems like Oblivion all over to me. Which means that I'm not wasting my money on it, not even thinking about it.

To me, the apex of Bethesda's TES series was with Daggerfall and Morrowind. With Oblivion, they started creating eye-candy games with cute little graphics, a half-decent combat system and they employed a writer that makes me want to gouge my eyes out every time I see OB's dialogue and story. It was a great dissapointment when the dialogue and story-writing part translated into "Fallout" 3. Thankfully, the same didn't happen with New Vegas, though the props for that certainly don't go to Bethsoft.

Might be good torrenting material, though, and, as The Tarot said, the modding community will most likely improve it. If there's one thing about Bethesda that pleases me greatly is the way most of their games are very easy to mod, and attract great modders.

Anyway, I'll hold my breath about Skyrim, avoid the hype completely. Could be I'm wrong, then I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I still think they should've forgotten about Skyrim and clichéd dragons, and gone for Elsweyr or Argonia, instead. That'd be way cooler. >_>

Random Unrelated PS: The EVE Online in-game browser seems to work just fine with these forums. Sweet. o.o

Heh. Normally, that would make sense, yeah.

However, they're also the makers of Daggerfall and Morrowind, and the changes made when they created Oblivion where damn obvious (huge, even), especially when it comes to the story, which was completely unrelated to the ones in the previous two games (which were also unrelated to each other), save for the fact that they all took place in Nirn and (mostly) Tamriel.

It looks like they've "recycled" tons of graphical resources from Oblivion. Hopefully they are doing this so they can put more effort in optimizing and improving the game engine, and just because its cheaper...
